Santa Claus and Christ

Today at work my friend and I were discussing all things Christmas and we started talking about Santa Claus.  I have been taught growing up to recognize Santa Claus as a symbol, not just as a lie that parents tell their children, or just a man, but for some reason I never realized the importance of what he really stood for. Santa Claus is a man who works all year long to give everything he has to everyone else in the world and bring them joy. Isn't that so cool? How amazing is that. Do we do that? And do we remember that on Christmas? He's not a man who just brings us gifts. I wish that more people believed in the symbol of Santa instead.  I think it would teach our children more and also make them feel like we weren't complete liars during their childhood.  Do we understand that we should live our lives more like Santa Claus? Do we live with the intention of  giving away our life's work to build up mankind and bring at least one soul joy?
I believe Santa is a type of Christ. If we understand who Santa is I believe we will look to Christ and realize the greatest gift we have been given, our Savior. He lived his whole life in order to give himself to everyone else in the world and bring them the greatest joy they could ever have: Eternal Life. And it is because of Love. Do we live our life in a way that emulates Christ? After everything He has given us, what will we give to Him this Christmas season? Christmas is when we celebrate His birth. What can we learn from His birth, but also what can we learn from His life? What can we learn from our birth and what can we learn from our life? And based on that, what can we do this upcoming year to give to Him?

Ecclesiastes 3

Read this during my study in the morning. I thought it was beautiful. Enjoy.

Chapter 3

To every thing there is a season—Whatever God does, it will be forever—God will judge the righteous and the wicked.
 To every thing there is a aseasonand btime to every purpose under the heaven:
 atime to be born, and time to bdietime to plant, and time to pluck up that which is planted;
 time to kill, and time to heal; time to break down, and time to build up;
 time to weep, and time to alaughtime to bmournand time to dance;
 time to cast away stones, and time to gather stones together; time to embrace, and time to refrain from embracing;
 time to agetand time to lose; time to keep, and time to cast away;
 time to arendand time to sew; time to keep bsilenceand time to speak;
 time to love, and time to ahatetime of war, and time of peace.
 What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he alaboureth?
 10 have seen the atravailwhich God hath given to the sons of men to be bexercised in it.
 11 He hath made every thing abeautiful in his time: also bhe hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the cwork that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
 12 know that there is no good in them, but for man to rejoice,and to do agood in his life.
 13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is   the agift of God.
 14 know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be afor bever:nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should cfear before him.
 15 That which hath been is anowand that which is to be hath already been; and God    requireth that which is past.
 16 ¶And moreover saw under the sun the place of judgment,that awickedness was there;  and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.
 17 said in mine heart, God shall ajudge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time   there for every purpose and for every work.
 18 said in mine heart concerning the aestate of the sons of men,that God might manifest   them, and that they might see that they themselves are bbeasts.
 19 For that which abefalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts;even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other;yea, they have all one breath; so that man hath no   preeminence above beast: for all is vanity.
 20 All go unto one place; all are of the adustand all turn to dust again.
 21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?
 22 Wherefore perceive that there is nothing better, than that man should rejoice in his   own aworksfor that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
